YIN YOGA with Tymi Howard Sat, Nov 29, 2014 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

2hr YIN YOGA
WHAT IS YIN YOGA? Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.
Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect compliment to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to twenty minutes! Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.

WYNNE PARIS CONCERT/KIRTAN with WYNNE PARIS Sat, Dec 6, 2014 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us at Guruv Yoga / Lake Mary for an evening of yoga inspired music with Internationally acclaimed musician Wynne Paris.
CONCERT/ KIRTAN begins at 7:30pm. Cushions provided, or bring your own : D
Cost:$20 IN ADVANCE $25 AT THE DOOR
About Wynne:
I produce and perform music that is inspired by the spiritual vibrations and eastern traditions of Yoga, Tantra, World Beat music and Kirtan.
Working with and for the modern American Yoga movement, I try to mix the western 'concert experience' with the spiritual music traditions
of Kirtan
Most of the Kirtans I perform focus on participatory chanting, singing and dancing as methods for experiencing spiritual bliss. With folk style presentation, I get people singing, clapping, chanting and dancing in a way I describe as a modern spiritual Hootanany.
We (myself, the musicians and the audience ) sing to and honor many traditions with inclusive harmonies and gospel style. At the end of each song, rather than applause, there is a moment of meditation and reflection.
Most of my time is spent touring and working in the recording studio.
It's an unusual job, I thank goddess and love my work!
