Tymi Howard/ Director/500 E-RYT

Tymi Howard

TYMI HOWARD is the Owner and Director of Guruv Yoga in Central Florida. Tymi is a Certified Yoga Instructor at the 500 E-RYT level with Yoga Alliance, and is known in the yoga community as a skillful practitioner, and a dynamic, non-dogmatic, playful teacher! Leading workshops, retreats and Yoga Teacher Trainings is how she dedicates herself to spreading the transformational gift of yoga!

Her introduction to yoga began in NYC in 1993 after years of ballet, several nagging injuries, and much soul searching, she found her way into an Ashtanga class. What a humbling, yet magical experience! It wasn’t until she moved to California that she began to seek out this “yogic lifestyle” and embrace it mind, body and soul. Having been influenced by so many gifted teachers, she gives thanks for each one of them and hopes that she can be a vessel through which God’s Grace and gifts may flow..forever a student!

Robbie Walsh

Humbled and very thankful to be given the opportunity to teach yoga, live life and to share my experiences in the very real atmosphere that our planet provides. To thrive off of the fruits of the land and share them with Mother Earth, Father Time, all beings, brothers, sisters and yogis is a great honor.

Surfing, art and music is what my life has been all about. Creativity  in or out of  nature and its elements play a large roll on the way we percieve and function in our daily lives, and  my body functions best in water. It relaxes the mind, soothes the soul and promotes positive thinking and yoga has given me a great alternative to the water.

Practicing yoga and meditation is the only other time I feel like I can just get away from it all  mentally, physically and spiritually… just let go. Yoga gives me the same weightless feeling, happy thoughts and blissful vibrations that the water offers.

Yoga gives me focus,  intuition, strength and balance to help overcome any and all obstacles or challenges with a clear approach  and  has changed my life in many other positive ways. Most importantly, yoga and meditation has heightened my over all sense of awareness and compassion which has helped me enjoy life and its opportunities.  Im looking forward to sharing breath, movement. time, love, knowledge, and life with any and all beings.

Lorraine Turner

Lorraine found Yoga at a local gym in 2005, fell in love with the practice and committed herself to practice 3 times a week for several years. When Guruv Yoga opened, Lorraine increased her practice to everyday.

In 2009-201,  she decided to enter into a 268 hour teacher training course to deepen her yoga knowledge and learn more of the philosophies. Completing the yoga teacher training gave Lorraine the confidence she thought she never had. Falling more in love with yoga, Lorraine has been teaching for over a year and enjoys sharing and giving back all that yoga has given her… an open heart, love, joy, confidence, peace and calmness of the mind and body.

Lorraine also works with a local Psychotherapist, who specializes in treating addictions, trauma and relationships. Together they offer a unique combination of Therapy and Yoga which has helped many overcome the struggles of life, reconnecting their minds to their bodies and the world.

“I would invite everyone to try Yoga at least once, the journey will become more than you can ever imagine ………………………………Namaste”

Jamie Savage

I have been drawn to meditation since I was a teenager. When I was 30, with my 3rd child on the way and a good career, I knew something was missing. I found it hard to let go of my busy work schedule and relax at home with my children. The stress and challenges of modern life seemed to be sucking the energy out of me and life felt purposeless most of the time. This was a very frustrating time. I knew I loved my family and enjoyed my career, but I often felt distant and disconnected from my life.

I asked a good friend to take me to meditation class and that has been the start of a new life for me. Studying intensely for the past 5 years, I have learned much about the suffering I was experiencing. Most importantly I learned about how similar it was to the suffering and stress of everyone around me, and that meditation offered a path to learn the tools to bring new understanding to these sometimes difficult situations we all have to face in our lives.

During this time I have taken advantage of the rich abundance of teachings here in the Central Florida community as well as taking the opportunity to read and study the teachings of some of our Great Living Masters such as the Dalai Lama, Eckharte Tolle, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Thich Nhat Hanh, Gil Fronsdal, Jack Kornfield, and Pema Chodron.  I also support my practice with 1 day, 3 day, and 7 retreats.

I strive to teach meditation in a way that is practical and useful, relating our time and struggles on the cushion to our time and struggles in our daily life. We discuss different topics as they relate to the practice and I support fully the group process. I truly believe all I have learned about meditation has been a result of my participation within a community of like-minded people.

I am grateful to Tymi and Guruv Yoga for the opportunity and support that this freely offered class has given the entire community at Guruv, including myself. I wish all have the opportunity to find the great benefits that meditation can bring to your life,

Chelsie DiPaolo

Chelsie is 200hr RYT

Little did I know when I walked into Guruv Yoga my senior year of college that I was embarking on a journey that would change my life. I came to yoga for a workout offering great physical benefits in no way being present to how exhausted, mentally and physically, I really was. Leaving the studio after my very first class I was in a euphoria… it was the greatest high I had ever known and I realized that I had found something so much greater than what I was looking for. I found something that I hadn’t even known existed, and to put it simply, I fell in love with yoga.

One may come to yoga for the physical but it is impossible to separate, mind, body, and spirit. Through yoga I have learned to be a less reactive, more compassionate and loving person, and even more, I have learned how to love myself again. Yoga is for everyone and it’s my intention to teach just that! 95% of the time we take ourselves too seriously but I’ve learned if we just continue to get on our mat and practice, all that “life stuff” will work itself out. Love yourself, love your life, and be loving to all who surround you – practice to become present and love what it feels like to be alive. It is my joy to join this incredible team of teachers and share my love and passion with all of you.  Om Shanti, Om Peace!

Taylor Harkness

Taylor started attending yoga classes at Guruv Yoga in Lake Mary as a compliment to his rock climbing regimen. After just one class, he was hooked. He saw how the added flexibility and strength training helped him in his other sport training, but also noticed something even deeper. Having a stressful job as an EMT, Taylor soon noticed that he was sharper and more clearly minded when it came to handling the trials of his job. Even moreso, Taylor was filled with more energy and positivity after his practice.

After much thought and careful deliberation, Taylor closed his eyes and dove head first into a new lifestyle as he underwent Yoga Teacher Training with Tymi Howard. He believes this opportunity has been one of the best experiences of his life and lives every day with a renewed sense of gratitude and love. His high energy practice and friendly teaching techniques allow for an open, playful environment.

Taylor would like to thank Tymi Howard, Dale & Lorraine Turner, Kristen Schneider, Kim Dove and Robbie Walsh as well as all of the other teachers and friends who have helped him in finding his way to yoga.

Susan Reynolds

Susan took her first yoga class in 2003 as something fun and new to do with her husband. After the first classes, she was completely hooked. Susan fell in love with the physical practice but also the internal focus and spirituality of yoga.

Since becoming Mommy to two little people, yoga has been integral in helping her stay balanced and sane. Susan completed teacher training (200 RYT) at Guruv to deepen her practice and learn more about yoga as a lifestyle for her family. Through her studies, she discovered a particular joy in prenatal yoga, leading her to get her prenatal yoga certification.

Susan shares the calmness and centeredness that yoga brings with Moms (and Dads) to be in her gentle, prenatal classes.

Amanda Niznik

Amanda discovered yoga at a South Florida gym in 2005 while working in the real estate industry. Initially, it provided her with a new kind of physical challenge but ultimately provided her refuge from a stressful career and an unhealthy emotional lifestyle. During subsequent years, she flirted with different styles of yoga and practiced on and off; then, after a life-changing medical event in 2009, she knew that she needed yoga to heal – she threw herself into her practice and hasn’t looked back since.

Yoga has taught Amanda the ultimate form of strength: to love herself unconditionally and lead with her heart instead of her head. Yoga has also taught her to be more present, less controlling, and to “live the questions now.” Amanda is a 200-RYT, and it is both an honor and privilege for her to share her practice with the community. She is also a writer for the local Brite Magazine, and a volunteer for the Travis Manion Foundation, which benefits wounded and disabled veterans and families of the fallen. She is honored to join the sparkling staff at Guruv Yoga and is, of course, eternally grateful to her teacher, Tymi Howard, for her continuing inspiration and guidance.

Peace, love, and lots of yoga!

Ross Yaeger

Ross was introduced to yoga several years ago while recovering from a spine injury after a bad car accident. With the help of a basic yoga practice, Ross was able to regain mobility and return to an active lifestyle. As Ross saw the physical and mental benefits of yoga, he deepened his practice and eventually went on to receive his teacher training from Tymi Howard at Guruv. “I really am honored to have such a fun part in helping people improve their lives. Yoga has great physical and mental benefits, and I love seeing it’s impact in people’s lives.”

Ross is also a practicing Buddhist and is well read in both Buddhist and Yogic philosophy. In his spare time, his hobbies include weight lifting, triathlons, physics, literature, traveling and spending time with his daughter.

Dale Turner

I started my yoga practice almost four years ago in 2007 after I gave up smoking and deciding to pursue a healthier lifestyle. What I found was so much more than that. My yoga practice not only helps me physically but is also relaxes me and helps me be a more patient kinder person both on and off my yoga mat.

Guruv Yoga Studio has truly become an integral part of my life. I feel truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community.

Gabe Dillon-Bowman

Gabe started practicing at Guruv in the spring of 2009.  It wasn’t until the fall of 2010, and his collaboration with Tymi on her 1 hour Vinyasa Flow DVD that his practice truly began to deepen.  With a runaway hit on their hands and unlimited yoga in his pocket

Gabe began to spend more and more time on the yoga mat.  Now a graduate of Tymi’s 200 hour teacher training program he is thrilled to have the opportunity to teach and continue to be taught by the wonderful group of teachers and students that make up the Guruv Yoga community.
